Can MC be installed on a VM?

Post by MisterVertica » Tue Jan 26, 2016 2:45 pm

Can Management Console be installed on a VM? What are the issues that I could expect if only 500GB of storage is available to MC?

It can be installed on a VM. I don't recall if MC actually stores anything other than providing a front-end UI for managing Vertica.

MC retains a lot of meta-data such as alerts and events, current node state, and MC users, in a lightweight, embedded (Derby) database. It also retains a ton of workload history.

You'll likely fill up 500 GB pretty quickly, so you will have to manage the retention period.
