What is VoltDB?

Simply put: VoltDB is a wicked fast NewSQL database system. It is specifically designed to run on modern scale-out architectures – fast, inexpensive servers connected via high-speed data networks.

VoltDB was originally part of Vertica, and was used for caching high throughput data before Vertica could absorb it
