Anyone know of any comparisons in speed between Vertica and DB2 10.5?
We run DB2 for much of our data needs, and someone at our firm brought up the possibility of dropping Vertica and upgrading DB2 to 10.5, which is able to store data using a columnar architecture.
I myself don't have any complaints about Vertica (and personal don't enjoy DB2 from an end-user standpoint), but we will have to do some due diligence and compare these two products.
(The use case is a data warehouse used for business analytics, with the typical issues: huge joins, analytic queries, etc.)
I did manage to find some info on DB2 10.5 on the internet, but it was mostly sales propaganda. ("Not that there's anything wrong with that!")

Re: Vertica vs DB2 10.5
I don't know much about DB2 10.5, but I'd bet its "columnar" architecture has been retro-fitted into their base code, whereas in Vertica, the "columnar" design was build from the ground up
