Masking of data

Post by lonetwin » Thu Jul 23, 2015 5:00 am

What is the best way ( and if easy ) to mask data ( email addresses )within vertica for security and compliance reason.

I read : http://www.vertica.com/wp-content/uploa ... asheet.pdf

and wondering how to go about doing this. I have zero experience on Vertica, hence this question.

Thanks in advance.

Encryption typically has overhead which in a database such as Vertica does not make sense. This is typically done using 3rd party tools.

I would take a look at Voltage. There's a guide to integrating Voltage with Vertica.

Also, there was a previous post about this as well.
Checkout vertica.tips for more Vertica resources.

are you looking for SDM (static) or DDM (dynamic) data masking for Vertica?
You may consider this one from Datasunrise
https://www.datasunrise.com/masking/vertica/

it comes with data auditing and discovery of PII data which could be useful
