Copy a Vertica database

Post by brendon987 » Wed Sep 12, 2012 9:29 pm

Hi all,

I am very new to vertica and new to database administration. I need help. Please treat me like a newbie who know nothing.

I have a single node Vertica database on a linux server. I am require to copy this database to another linux server which has vertica installed.

How do I copy this database. Once I have transfer the copy to the new server. How do I upload it.

Thanks

Brendon

There are a few options for you ...

1 - Copy database - http://my.vertica.com/docs/6.0.0-1/HTML ... #16027.htm
2 - Backup/Restore database - http://my.vertica.com/docs/6.0.0-1/HTML ... #14266.htm
3 - COPY individual tables - http://my.vertica.com/docs/6.0.0-1/HTML ... #15591.htm

Hi,

I am looking for a way to take backup of vertica database from 1 server and loading to new server. Can any one please guide me here. I tried connecting to the links given in previous post in this chain but can't open those.

Thanks in advance!

I assume you have a copy of the docs locally? The documentation sections referred to are:

Admin Guide/ Backing up and restoring the database
Admin Guide/ Backing up and restoring the database / Copying the database to another cluster
SQL Reference Manual / SQL Statements / COPY FROM VERTICA
