Installing with Vertica 5 database

Can the console be installed to run against Vertica 5?

I haven't installed the console yet, but I am guessing that you can use it to manage a 5.0 databases. I can't find anywhere in the documentation that states otherwise. To install the console you need a whole new server! You can't use one of the nodes in the cluster for the console. Now that I'm thinking about it, I wonder if the console can interface with two different versions of Vertica.
