Weird Border Characters in Putty

Post by harryrundles » Fri Jul 05, 2013 9:39 pm

Hey,

I connect to my Vertica nodes via Windows Putty. When I run a command in Linux like /usr/sbin/system-config-network-tui I see a bunch of weird characters as the screen borders. (See Image). I've seen it on other systems where the weird characters are actual lines. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Go into your putty settings (Window/Translation) and change the "Remote character set:" field to UTF-8.

Don't forget to save you changes.
