You can easily create Query based Projections with the help of admintool.
While running the DBD with some exsiting data in a table try to go with the query specific design.
Make sure you put the correct path of your query file.
Note - With the Latest release of Vertica 5.1 it can accept up to 100 queries in the query input file for a query-specific design.
