I setup a test vertica instance with 3 nodes and failed a node completely (deleted the virtual server).
When I got it back up it wouldn't reinstall using the regular install with -s flag command, so I had to dig deeper. It had a new ip so I changed the hosts file on all 3 servers and still no luck. After looking through the docs I found this tidbit:
/opt/vertica/sbin/update_vertica -A NewHostName -R OldHostName -E -r rpm_package
Which allows you to replace the node and connect using the new ip. I thought I would share.
