Hi Victor,

I think I misunderstood, (sorry for the bothering)... just copy the files that in data and catalog folder to S3?
Because I didn't find any document on backup\ restore vertica database with the Vertica catalog , data, and temp directories...

Or you mean to use the data that we have on HDFS (before we copy to vertica), and just load this data to new cluster...?

I was referring to data files that were used to load the Vertica cluster. In your case, it sounds like that would be the HDFS files.

I highly recommend you read Ralph Kimball's Data Warehouse Toolkit. It is a free PDF, but don't be fooled by the word "free" - it is a real book, the technical writing is some of the best I've ever seen, and very dense with info. Google it to find free downloads. The first edition was written a while ago for row-oriented SQL databases, but the concepts translate easily to Vertica. I recommend everyone read all of Kimball's books.
