/data/pdw/pdw/v_pdw_node0001_data running out space

Post by askh01 » Wed Jul 31, 2013 2:59 pm

Hi,

We're running out of space on the following directories on the Vertica server. Could you please let me know what would be the safest files/directories are in /data to remove to free some space?

Also, is it ok to remove old .pidx and .fdb files?

Thanks,
ASKH

No! Node will fail if you will.

No one can answer, since we don't know what you have in it. If this directory used by Vertica only, so nothing can be deleted in the DATA catalog for freeing space. If you have old databases - so delete it, it will free some space.

As work around: try to add additional space for DATA:
Adding Storage Locations
Moving Data Storage Locations

How about /data/backup directory? This directory is being used for backup. Can old backup be removed from this directory to free up some space?

Another question I've how do you verify the last completion backup in Vertica?

Thanks,
