DataStage Connectivity using ODBC

Post by nikx_8_7 » Tue Jun 05, 2012 2:31 pm

Hi, we are using Datastage as an ETL tool and vertica as our target database. Wanted to know if anyone has tried connecting to vertica through Datastage using ODBC connection.

Yes - this is a known data path against Vertica.

So, how is the performance while loading data through oDBC stage to vertica?

The ODBC drivers for Vertica have been completely rewritten as of version 5.1. Internally when doing bulk loading the driver invokes the bulk loader so you should get very good performance. How many concurrent loads are you planning on doing via DataStage?

Ok - I would suggest you run multiple streams in parallel.
