ODBC does case-insensitive string compare in Informatica

Hi all,
Anyone have any experience using Vertica and Informatica with ODBC? The problem we are having is that when strings are compared form the lookup it is ignoring case in 6.1.x but not with 4.1 drive. I've already tried changing the Locale settings and disabling cache look up in Informatica.
Any help on this issue would be much appreciated!
