Super Easy Upgrade Steps!
Here are the simple steps needed to upgrade to Vertica 5.1: 1. Download the desired RPM file from Vertica's web site 2. Shutdown the current database using admintools 3. Shutdown the spread process (kill the process if needed) on each of your nodes 4. Install the RPM Example: rpm -Uvh vertica-5.1.1-...

Vertica Component tVerticaBulkExec locks bulk file
FYI - If you are running Talend 4.1 and below and try to delete a bulk file after it has been accessed by tVerticaBulkExec, the delete file component is not able to remove the file. This was fixed in Talend release 4.2.

Re: Error TIMEOUT: Could not login with SSH
Hi, That error is sometimes related to not having the mount point /dev/pts available. The devpts file system is the most common way for pseudo terminals (PTYs) to be implemented. Example: [root]# ps -ef | grep -i spread spread 19896 1 0 2011 ? 00:08:58 /opt/vertica/spread/sbin/s...

Limitations and unsupported features of Vertica CE
The Vertica CE release is a great way to get your feet wet with the new technology! There are a few limitations and unsupported features in CE that are only available in the Enterprise Edition. Limitations: 1. 3 nodes 2. 1 TB of data 3. Driver support only for Linux and Windows Unsupported features:...

Re: Toad Version
Jeff,
We're using Toad for Data Analysts. The best version that works with Vertica is beta 3.1 which you can download from http://tda.inside.quest.com/beta.jspa. Unfortunately it expires every two weeks and it forces you to download the latest version of the beta.
Thanks
