Thanks a bunch for you help in this thread. I decided to drop all the nodes and use Red Hat as opposed to CentOS.

This time when I did the install I used the -T -S default options.

So far, the cluster has stayed up longer than ever on CentOS.

I renamed the /opt/vertica/config/vspread.conf to vspread.conf_old. Then I reinstalled Vertica. After the install, I checked the new vspread.conf file and it looks exactly the same as the old one.
