The web site says "The Vertica Community Edition will be released before the end of the year"... Funny, it doesn't say which year:) I had assumed they meant 2011

List of Vertica Error codes and Messages
Errors in Vertica are assigned a 5 character SQLSTATE code. This code is similar to the value returned by the Oracle SQLCODE function which returns the number code of the most recent exception. The first 2 characters of a Vertica error code signify the class of the error and the last 3 characters re...

Re: Firewall Setup
Hi,
If you only have a public firewall then opening only port 5433 is sufficient. If you decide to put a firewall between the nodes, then you have to open a bunch of ports. The documentation does not recommend placing firewalls between the nodes.
Thanks!

New Session Rejected Due to Limit
A co-worker asked me about this message at work, so I thought I'd post it on the web site. The "New Session Rejected Due to Limit" error is the result of too many client session requests. By default Vertica allows 50 client sessions plus 5 more sessions for the administrators. You can resolve this i...

Re: How do I install an ODBC driver in Linux?
It looks like you tried installing the 64 bit ODBC drivers on to a 32 bit OS. Try typing uname -m at the OS prompt. If it says i686 then you are using 32 bit and need to DL the 32 bit ODBC drivers from Vertica's web site.

Re: OLAP in Vertica: MDX vs. SQL OLAP extensions
FYI - I just heard that MDX support is in the Vertica pipeline (as a feature request); but there is no set release date.
