Vertica Community Edition Beta Signup

You can sign up to take part in Vertica's Community Edition Beta Program here:
The web site says "The Vertica Community Edition will be released before the end of the year"... Funny, it doesn't say which year:) I had assumed they meant 2011 :)

List of Vertica Error codes and Messages

Errors in Vertica are assigned a 5 character SQLSTATE code. This code is similar to the value returned by the Oracle SQLCODE function which returns the number code of the most recent exception. Re: Firewall Setup

Hi,

If you only have a public firewall then opening only port 5433 is sufficient. If you decide to put a firewall between the nodes, then you have to open a bunch of ports. The documentation does not recommend placing firewalls between the nodes.

By default Vertica allows 50 client sessions plus 5 more sessions for the administrators. You can resolve this i...

Re: How do I install an ODBC driver in Linux?

It looks like you tried installing the 64 bit ODBC drivers on to a 32 bit OS. Try typing uname -m at the OS prompt. If it says i686 then you are using 32 bit and need to DL the 32 bit ODBC drivers from Vertica's web site.

Re: OLAP in Vertica: MDX vs. SQL OLAP extensions

FYI - I just heard that MDX support is in the Vertica pipeline (as a feature request); but there is no set release date.
