If you can implement partitioning than I think it's the one of the best way as every solution depend on the scenario and there is no rule for all scenarios.
Just read the documentation about partitioning it will give you the knowlege .

I agree with Sharon as you can profile a query and until you check the query profile or execution engine tables it get purged.

query_profiles changed in 6.1 ?
Hi , In version 5.1 if trace was off query_profiles table showed only the active queries (same for execution_engine_profiles). Now I see that in version 6.1 query_profiles & execution_engine_profiles are getting populate and has inactive queries even when trace is disabled . Is this true or I missed...
